taking it easy after Gustav

Monday afternoon.

The town is quiet. Everything is peaceful. Very few cars on the roads. One could imagine everyone has just gone out of town for the holiday. First nice days without rain in a long time. Nice here on the porch with the breeze.

Crazy weather.

Now the long process of getting everything put back where it belongs. Hmmm, maybe decide that thing should go somewhere different. Can't remember where this thing was. Good time to clean that up. Heck, we don't need some of these things at all.

It's hard to imagine how many people are involved with keeping our city safe when something like a hurricane blows through. EMS to take hundreds of people out of nursing homes, assisted living, hospitals and private homes. Fire men and women to make sure everything is safe and bravely fight those dangerous fires that pop up. Police to direct evacuation routes and protect us, our homes and businesses. City officials to organize it all.

Gustav PatrolIt was our pleasure to be able to host a few of you for dinner last Saturday night. Seemed the least we could do. It felt good to give something back and see you take a break, rest a minute, smile. We kept trying to give away steaks, but mostly served up hamburgers.

We'll be open as usual Tuesday night and should have most everything on the menu, if we get our delivery in time. Lyle and Kourtney will have some $2 tapas starting at 4pm. Come by for dinner and drinks and let us know how your weekend went.

Amy's just about got the wine tasting menu together. September 25th. On the porch. Always a good time.

See you soon,

Oliver & Olivia
